What is gambling?
Gambling is when someone risks something of value for a chance at a reward that can’t be guaranteed.
It can look like placing bets at a casino, buying lottery tickets, or playing fantasy sports for cash. But it also shows up in subtle ways—inside apps, video games, even arcade games that play with randomness and chance.
Anyone can get addicted to gambling. It’s important to recognize the potential signs of addiction.

We’re exploring gambling because it’s everywhere—sometimes loud, sometimes quiet.
From loot boxes to scratch tickets, our generation is navigating risk in digital and everyday spaces. We care because gambling affects mental health, relationships, and the way we think about control.
By listening to young people’s stories, we’re building a fuller picture of what gambling really is—and why it matters to talk about it.
