Theresa Glenn, MPH is the Problem Gambling Coordinator for the Springfield Department of Health and Human Services(SDHHS), Office of Problem Gambling.
In this role, Theresa provides problem gambling prevention and educational services for residents of Springfield with a goal to raise awareness of the harms associated with gambling, such as gambling addiction among individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
She is most interested in developing community led strategies to address problem gambling and other public health issues. She is currently a founding member of several projects funded by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, Community Mitigation Fund including the Gambling Addiction Research Initiative (GARI) and the Springfield Safe Ride Home Project. She also works closely with New North Citizen’s Council (NNCC) Deborah Hunt Education and Prevention Center and the Men of Color Health Awareness project (MOCHA) on the Talking About Gambling Project to better understand ways to address problem gambling education and treatment in Springfield.
Theresa is an experienced public health professionalwith 30 years’ experience working on community health and education projects. She studied psychology at Smith College as an Ada Comstock Scholar and received a Master’s of Public Health degree from the Amherst University of Massachusetts School of Public Health and Health Sciences.
Springfield, MA is her home of 30 years, where she lives with her dog Marley, the GARI mascot and frequent visitor at the GARI Project.
