The Problem.

In Phase 1 of the GARI Project, we, as members, focused on familiarizing ourselves with the complexities of gambling and its impact on young adults. Through a series of workshops, we shared our personal stories and perspectives, which helped us understand the issue on a deeper, more personal level. We also engaged with guest speakers who provided critical insights into gambling research and prevention. These experiences allowed us to broaden our knowledge and build a solid foundation for the research and outreach efforts in the next phases of the project.

We researched, discussed, and narrowed down our research points as a result. We looked into what could be considered gambling and what could lead to it. Members expressed that video games and financial issues in the house were ways we were exposed to the idea of risk and reward way before any casino.

Discussed how the normalization was explicitly showcased growing up. How gifts and influence were brought up and it represented a larger issue and one that most if not all members could relate to.
