The Plan.
Phase 2 of the GARI Project centered on developing outreach strategies and expanding on the themes explored in Phase 1, while building a foundation for the future implementation of workshops and interventions. A significant component of this phase involved attending conferences, such as the Boston event, where members gained valuable insights into research methodologies. Guest speakers played a key role throughout this phase, demonstrating how to create elevator pitches, outlining past research projects, and offering guidance on how to structure GARI’s own initiatives.
Throughout Phase 2, individual members also had the opportunity to take on leadership roles. For example, Victor Martinez delivered smaller presentations, while Geraldine Puerto shared her digital story, offering a real-world example of the methods that would later be implemented in Phase 3. The group also began brainstorming digital storytelling and crowdsourcing ideas. Additionally, preparations and ideas for social media pages, websites, and artistic representations of the project were spearheaded by members like Blu Figueroa and Monet Murphy, laying the groundwork for future community engagement efforts.
This phase ensured that the outreach and intervention ideas were thoroughly informed by both external expertise and internal collaboration, providing a well-rounded foundation for GARI’s next steps.
