The Solution.

Phase 3 of the GARI Project has a focus on utilizing two innovative methodologies—Digital Storytelling and a Crowdsourcing Contest—to explore young adults’ experiences and perceptions of gambling. This phase will offer both a research method and a public health intervention, promoting community engagement and storytelling to foster greater awareness about gambling-related issues among youth.

Involves young participants creating short, reflective digital narratives about their experiences with gambling, either personal or within their communities. This allows participants to share lived experiences, helping to reduce stigma and increase public awareness.

The Crowdsourcing Contest will call for creative submissions (such as videos, art, music, and podcasts) to engage the broader community. The Young Adult Action Collective (YAAC) leads the process, encouraging submissions and community voting to determine contest winners. This approach empowers young adults by inviting them to actively participate in the research and to shape the conversation around gambling.

Together, these methodologies aim to gather both qualitative and quantitative data on young adults' perspectives while raising awareness of gambling risks, particularly in marginalized communities.
